Bunny Friends... ☆

Recently  I acquired a new friend. A little fluffy one. With this cute (and slightly disapproving) face.
Ever since I've become quite concerned about animal testing for cosmetics. I mean how could anyone test on fluffy faces like this! I know I'm a little late to get a conscience but I suppose I've never really thought about it before, as I assume most people haven't. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not about to become a vegan or even a vegetarian (I just couldn't give up my grandma's roast dinners or Nando's and highly I commend people who can) but where possible I'm now buying cruelty free products and realising how many companies have yet to stop animal testing, particularly the bigger companies that can afford to find alternatives! So these are my favourite-bunny-friendly-cosmetics.
Not only is Eyes Lips Face an animal friendly make-up company, they are super super cheap with most products costing just £1.50 so you can buy lots and lots.
Of course everyone knows about The Body Shop, but that's because it is one of the largest and first major animal friendly companies. My favourite items are the strawberry body butter, the lemon body scrub (it smells just like my favourite cupcakes) and the rainforest moisture haircare range.

Lush is another big company that has been championing animal, eco and ethical handmade products that are full of fresh ingredients. I love the Big shampoo, particularly for shiny hair on an night out and the cupcake face mask is made with chocolate AND good for your skin (just try to resist eating it...)
Being one of those unlucky people who suffer from teenage skin (which surprisingly didn't miraculously clear up when I turned 20, BOO) I mainly use facial products with tea tree, and Superdrug is both affordable and doesn't use animal testing for any of their home brand products.

Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone immediately throws away and boycotts all products that have been tested on animals, and possibly hypocritically, I still believe that medical testing on animals is kinda okay, but from now on every time I buy something cosmetic I'll be baring in mind the little hoppy creature that awaits me at home.

P.S. Please forgive the awful post name, my wit failed me today!

In love... ☆

Yesterday I went to York for the very first time. I absolutely loved it and amongst the historical sights (unfortunately I have no photos as my camera decided it didn't like my memory card ARGH) we explored I also discovered a lovely shop called Joy which sells the loveliest clothes from Louche, featuring vintage style dresses, cute collars, full skirts and lovely coats.

We are planning a trip back to York in December for a little longer than a day (note to self: take multiple sd cards!) and I think its safe to say I know where I will be going when my student loan comes in....

Autumn ☆

autumn ☆

Autumn is on its way and what better way to welcome one of my favourite seasons than dressing in the colours of the changing leaves with snuggly knits, cute collars and autumnal florals.

On becoming an adult ☆

Having waved goodbye to my teen years (boohoo) and entering my "20's", I have been reflecting on what it means to be an adult. Though I still feel the same as when I was 16, particularly when in the company of my (extremely immature!) best friends, and I still live with my lovely mum at home, I still feel that I'm pretty self sufficient. I can cook a decent meal, take care of my finances okay (if there are no nice dresses to be bought), do my own washing and ironing (though this is rare) and I have always been given a large amount of freedom to do whatever I want (within reason) I assume to avoid the typical teenage activties such as climbing out the window to go to a party (*coughcough* my cousin).

However, in just a few short weeks I will be taking the next step into adulthood. I am moving out. Fair enough it's only 15 minutes away, but the closer it gets, the more I realise how much it will change my life. I've never spent more than two weeks away from home, apart from an 18 month period whereby I lived at my dads for work and even then I came home most weekends.

While most young people can't wait to get away from home and go to university, I am defiantly a home person, I chose a university in my home city so therefore lived at home for my first year, and the home comforts are lovely (I often tell my mum that my older brother will never move out while she continues to feed his 12-jaffa-cake-a-day habit!).

However, the four-bus-a-day commute to and from uni, especially when I only needed to hand in assignments or collect marks, soon became quite tiresome and finding quiet and time alone in my house is not easy! So when some of my course friends mentioned they had a spare room this year, I decided to take the leap and move out. I must admit, I am looking forward to being closer to uni, living with my friends, being able to get home at 4am and not feel too guilty and gaining the independence you can only get when you live alone. I am also rather looking forward to decorating a new room and having extra wardrobe space! And lets face it, universities are only in term for 6 months of the year anyway!
