What I've been up to

Since I went awol for the month of October, I thought I'd do a little round up via my Instagram photos!

At the beginning of October I started a pottery class with my best friend, Kirsti, which is based in the lovely cathedral quarter of Lincoln. We arrived a little early on the first week so we went for a stroll around as it was such a lovely evening! I'm hoping to do a post on our pottery class once I've made more pieces and glazed them!

This month I celebrated two very special occasions, the wedding of the lovely Paul and Lloyd which was such a beautiful, personal day and they both looked so happy! I also went to my cousins baby surprise baby shower to celebrate the newest member of our family who should be arriving any day now!

This month also featured my first night out in a long time with some of my favourite people to celebrate my new job which I start next week! And finally, after much debate (with myself...) about whether to grow my hair long or cut it, I decided to cut it all off and I love it :) That's pretty much all I've been up to in the past month, thanks for reading and I'll hopefully have a new post up next week!

a week in majorca

Last Sunday I returned from a lovely holiday on the island of Majorca. It was the first time I'd been to the Balerics and it was just so beautiful there. I thought it was a good chance to dust off my old film SLR and take a few holiday snaps! Annoyingly my camera batteries ran out so I wasn't able to take photographs for a few days, including when we went on a boat trip to a lovely little fishing village. I did manage to get some new batteries in Palma de Mallorca though just in time to wander the lovely Old Town and Cathedral.

As wells as a couple of trips to explore other parts of the island, we also did plenty of relaxing and I managed to get through a few books whilst laying around the pool and on the beach!

My blog still needs plenty of work to get it looking pretty, so thanks for bearing with me whist this little thing is under construction!

so it's been a while...

Well, let me just blow the dust off this old thing. It's been almost 3 years since I posted anything here but I thought it was about time I started blogging again!

Since I last posted here, I am not longer an English Literature student, but an English Literature graduate with first class honours. It's fair to say that a year on I'm still experiencing some post-uni-blues. I loved my time at university and after an amazing graduation week, packing up to leave my lovely house and my lovely friends was definitely one of the saddest days of my life! Ever since, life has not exactly gone as planned and I'm still trying to my way in what adults call "the real world." So I decided it is time to start up this little blog again for a creative outlet!

I'm not yet sure what direction I'm going to take here (and as you can see the design is still a work in progress) but hopefully I'll find my bearings as time goes on! On reflection, today might not be the best day to start blogging again as I'm about to jet off for a much needed holiday in Majorca, but when I'm back I'm hoping to get into the habit of posting at least weekly!

So until then, thanks for reading!

I've been a bad blogger ☆

I've been really really busy moving into my new house, catching up with old friends, making lovely new friends, enjoying nights in and nights out and doing (minimal) uni work so blogging has taken a bit of a back seat! However, I soon plan to be back with regular posts featuring attempts at crafting for my new room, new clothes, a trip to York and CHRISTMAS, including present ideas and the bloggers secret santa over at Cupcake Couture :)

back soon!

Bunny Friends... ☆

Recently  I acquired a new friend. A little fluffy one. With this cute (and slightly disapproving) face.
Ever since I've become quite concerned about animal testing for cosmetics. I mean how could anyone test on fluffy faces like this! I know I'm a little late to get a conscience but I suppose I've never really thought about it before, as I assume most people haven't. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not about to become a vegan or even a vegetarian (I just couldn't give up my grandma's roast dinners or Nando's and highly I commend people who can) but where possible I'm now buying cruelty free products and realising how many companies have yet to stop animal testing, particularly the bigger companies that can afford to find alternatives! So these are my favourite-bunny-friendly-cosmetics.
Not only is Eyes Lips Face an animal friendly make-up company, they are super super cheap with most products costing just £1.50 so you can buy lots and lots.
Of course everyone knows about The Body Shop, but that's because it is one of the largest and first major animal friendly companies. My favourite items are the strawberry body butter, the lemon body scrub (it smells just like my favourite cupcakes) and the rainforest moisture haircare range.

Lush is another big company that has been championing animal, eco and ethical handmade products that are full of fresh ingredients. I love the Big shampoo, particularly for shiny hair on an night out and the cupcake face mask is made with chocolate AND good for your skin (just try to resist eating it...)
Being one of those unlucky people who suffer from teenage skin (which surprisingly didn't miraculously clear up when I turned 20, BOO) I mainly use facial products with tea tree, and Superdrug is both affordable and doesn't use animal testing for any of their home brand products.

Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone immediately throws away and boycotts all products that have been tested on animals, and possibly hypocritically, I still believe that medical testing on animals is kinda okay, but from now on every time I buy something cosmetic I'll be baring in mind the little hoppy creature that awaits me at home.

P.S. Please forgive the awful post name, my wit failed me today!

In love... ☆

Yesterday I went to York for the very first time. I absolutely loved it and amongst the historical sights (unfortunately I have no photos as my camera decided it didn't like my memory card ARGH) we explored I also discovered a lovely shop called Joy which sells the loveliest clothes from Louche, featuring vintage style dresses, cute collars, full skirts and lovely coats.

We are planning a trip back to York in December for a little longer than a day (note to self: take multiple sd cards!) and I think its safe to say I know where I will be going when my student loan comes in....

Autumn ☆

autumn ☆

Autumn is on its way and what better way to welcome one of my favourite seasons than dressing in the colours of the changing leaves with snuggly knits, cute collars and autumnal florals.
